As the name suggest Wood flooring is made from natural woods including anything from oak to bamboo. Wood has been a popular floor choice for many years although has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity.

Why Choose Wood Flooring?

There are a number of reasons why you may choose wood as your flooring solution. Wood floors can help your home become a warm and inviting space and as they come from a natural resource that is sustainable, are environmentally friendly. Opting for a wood floor can also be a wise investment as good wood flooring will last a lifetime without needing replaced and can add value to a home if, or when, you come to sell it.

Many people opt for wood flooring due to its appearance. Like all organic materials, each wood flooring has its own unique quirks and character. The variations in color, dimensional stability, grain, and hardness mean no two floors will be the same, giving you a unique focal point for your home. Wood floorings are also easy to look after and can often resist wear and tear better than some carpets.

How to Choose the Right Wood Flooring for Your Home

Hardwood floors are graded according to a number of variables on each plank including grain patterns, knots and colour. There are three main grades for wood, one to three which vary in price, with Grade 1 being the most expensive.

Grade 1 – Wood in this grade will have few knots and will be of a similar making the floor look visually consistent. This create a clean, smooth, sleek finish and can bring elegance to your home.

Grade 2 – Wood in this grade has more colouring and a more visible grain. Each plank will be slightly different shades and may have small knots. This grade is often used for those wishing to add character to their home.

Grade 3 – Wood in this grade sees a much a greater variety of colour in the floor and more visible marks and knots. Although it is technically the 'cheapest' option many enjoy its rustic finish and use it in living rooms and hallways.
